Discussed with administration: Outside play space, ongoing discussion with board members on potential resolution to space and scheduling issues has been noted in record.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today. Ratios and supervision were in compliance. A sample of posted children's and staff records were reviewed. The physical plant, medications, emergency supplies and procedures were also reviewed. The children were engaged in various activities, to include: free play, reading, art projects, infant care, feeding, diapering routines and nap time routines were discussed and observed. Hand washing, rest room routines/ supervision and lunch distribution and clean up were also observed at the time of the inspection. Areas of non compliance are identified in this report. The exit interview was conducted with the administration. Inspection conducted 10:15 am-2:00 pm. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-50-A Description: Based upon observation, children's records were not treated in a confidential manor. Evidence: Authorization forms for sunscreen usage for individual students were observed hanging on classroom walls out in the open so that anyone entering the room could view. Plan of Correction: Administrator responsible for medication and classroom checks had been out on leave. Already has a planned walk thru to check classrooms for posted documents .
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-J Description: Based upon observation, medication was not kept in a locked place as required. Evidence: In the brown bears classroom emergency medications were found in a backpack used to carry medications to remote locations around campus ( playground) should an emergency event occur. Medications are placed in self locking bags, however, 2 of 4 medication bags were found to have broken locking mechanisms at the time of the inspection. Plan of Correction: Administration was in the process of conducting a center wide check of emergency medications at the time of the inspection.
