Licensing Inspector arrived at 10:10 and departed at 11:00 AM. There were no children in care at the time of the inspection. All standards except those related to the care of children were inspected. The sample size was five children's records. A violation was noted in the area of special care provisions & emergencies.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-N
Description: Based on a review of medication, it was determined that the facility did not ensure that when the authorization for medication expires, the parent shall be notified that the medication needs to be picked up within 14 days or disposed of by the center. Evidence: There was an Epi-pen for which the authorization on on file expired on 3/1/17. This medication had not been returned to the parent of disposed of properly.

Plan of Correction: Family involvement specialist will contact the parent to pick up the medication.
