VENDSUB-000 SPECIAL CARE PROVISIONS AND EMERGENCIES
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 12:45pm-2:10pm. There were 36 children directly supervised by 8 staff. The physical plant, 4 staff records, 6 children?s records, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. There were no medications on site today. Children were observed napping and being held while bottle fed. Positive interactions were observed throughout as teachers talked calmly to children transitioning to sleep. There was an abundant supply of materials for the children. Evidence of programmatic curriculum could be seen throughout the center. The center was clean and organized. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation, not all areas of the center were maintained in a safe and operable condition. Evidence: A plastic bookshelf in the two year old classroom has a broken shelf resulting in exposed sharp edges. Plan of Correction: The bookshelf will be thrown away.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation, not all hazardous substances were kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Evidence: A can of aerosol disinfectant and a canister of disinfecting wipes were observed in an unlocked cabinet in the toddler classroom. Plan of Correction: The chemicals were moved to a locked cabinet during the inspection.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-290-3 Description: Based on observation, not all electrical outlets have protective covers. Evidence: Two outlets were observed uncovered in the three year old classroom. Plan of Correction: Corrected during inspection.
Standard #: VENDSUB-000-028-B-6 Description: Based on observation, disposable diapers were not disposed in a leak-proof or plastic-lined storage system. Evidence: A diaper trash can was observed without a plastic liner in the bathroom used by two year old children. Plan of Correction: Corrected during inspection.
