An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 10:15 a.m.-12:30 p.m. with the owner/director and assistant director. 33 children, ages 22 months through five years old, were under the care and supervision of six staff. Children were observed playing outside, listening to a readaloud, building with Legos, and eating lunch. Lunch served today was hotdogs, baked beans, applesauce, chips, and milk. Required information was posted. The last emergency escape drill was 7/14/17. The last shelter-in-place drill was 4/6/17. The first aid kit is complete. There were no medications to review. Five children's records and two staff records were reviewed. An annual health and safety inspection (SHSI) was also conducted (see separate inspection report dtd 7/26/17). For any questions regarding this inspection, please contact the licensing inspector Marty Quade at (540) 272-5065 and Marty.Quade@dss.virginia.gov.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-130-A Description: Based on review of five children's records, the center did not obtain documentation of immunizations for a child prior to the child's first attendance. Evidence: Child A's (date of first attendance: 7/10/17) record did not include documentation of immunizations. Child B's (date of first attendance: 3/6/17) immunizations were dated 3/23/17. Plan of Correction: The center will ensure that children's health forms will be received per licensing standards' time lines.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D Description: Based on review of the emergency response drills record, the center did not conduct monthly emergency escape drills. Evidence: There was no documented emergency escape drill for June 2017. Plan of Correction: During most months, the center conducts at least two fire drills. Fire drills will be scheduled and written down on the center calendar during the first week of each month.
A compliance history is in no way a rating for a facility.
