The following was discussed with administration: *The plastic covering on the outdoor sensory table had webbing in the plastic showing beginning signs of cracking. It is recommended this is monitored for compliance. Please be mindful of phone chargers and other electrical devices close to water sources.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 9:15am-11:00am. At the time of the tour there were 65 children in care with 16 staff present. A sample of 6 staff and 6 children's records were reviewed in addition to 3 medications. Children were observed on the playground, reading , doing art and participating in learning centers.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation the center failed to ensure areas and equipment of the center inside and outside were maintained in a safe condition. Evidence: On the toddler playground the plastic pvc pipe was cracked and had sharp edges. Plan of Correction: This will be corrected by 9/28/17. Opening staff will complete the playground checklist prior to any children going out on the playground. Any deficiencies will be reported to management as soon as possible. Management will take appropriate action within 24 hours. Safety captain will monitor compliance and management will monitor through weekly inspections. DM will inspect on periodic visits.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-540-C Description: Based on observation the center failed to ensure all required items were included in the first aid kit. Evidence: The center's first aid kit did not have a pair of scissors. Plan of Correction: This will be corrected by 9/8/17. Safety captain will inspect first aid kits and renew contents as needed. During monthly staff meetings kits will be inspected and filled as needed. Management will inspect periodically and will have an assigned storage area with extras of most commonly used items for quick refill. DM will inspect on any safety audits.
