An unannounced monitoring inspection was done today 10/10/2017 beginning at 9:00 AM and ending at 12:00 PM. There were 62 children in care today not including the school age children. The children were observed during their activities such as playing , eating snack, art, lunch and swimming. Medication was reviewed as well as a sample of children and staff files. This included newly enrolled children and hired staff.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation of the playgrounds, the center failed to ensure that all areas and equipment inside and outside shall be maintained in a clean, safe and operable condition. Evidence: 1. The black sheet that is used under the rubber mulch was exposed and posed a tripping hazard to the children and staff. 2. The right corner pole cement footer is exposed and posed a hazard to the children. Plan of Correction: The director will have the Y maintenance staff to work on both items on the playground and will have staff monitor.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-B Description: Based on interviews with infant room staff, the center failed to ensure that the diaper changing bad was cleaned and sanitized according to the standard. Evidence: 1. Staff stated that they use disinfecting wipes instead of soap and water on the diaper changing pad. Plan of Correction: In the future soap and water will be used after each diaper change.
