Technical Assistance:
Discussed new criteria for out of state central registry checks for staff and volunteers who have lived out of the Commonwealth of Virginia in the previous five years. Proof that the required background checks have been submitted must be submitted to the licensing office within 7 days.

Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today from 11:56am-1:00pm. There were 30 children directly supervised by 6 staff. The physical plant, 4 staff records, 9 children?s records, medications, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed participating in settling down for nap. Hand-washing procedures were also observed. There was an abundant supply of materials for the children. There was an adequate number of staff with current certification in MAT, CPR and First Aid, as well as DHO training. Staff-to-child ratios were in compliance. The center was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Description: Based on observation, not all cleaning materials were kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Evidence: 1. Floor cleaning chemicals were observed unlocked and installed in a spraying floor cleaning tool behind the desk in the prekindergarten room. 2.. In the two's classroom spray cleaner, carpet cleaner and, spray disinfectant were observed in an unlocked cabinet.
