An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted in the Center on 10/17/17. There were 79 children present, ages ranged from infancy to preschool. The children were grouped in 8 classrooms which observations were made in each classroom. A variety of activities was observed including hand washing procedures, lunch, self-interest play, nap, afternoon snack and dismissal at the end of the day. Documentation of the Center's annual fire and health inspections was current. Medications were observed in the Center. A sample of children's and staff records was reviewed, 8 children's and 10 staff. Findings were reviewed with the Center Supervisor. If you have any questions, please call (540)309-2310. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-70-A Description: Based on a sample review of 10 staff records, 2 of 10 did not contain the name, address, and phone number of an emergency contact person. (staff 9 and 10) Plan of Correction: The information will be kept on file in the Center.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on direct observations, the Center failed to ensure equipment of the center, inside and outside, was maintained in a clean,safe operable condition. Evidence: 1. The LI observed standing, dirty water in two compartments of the playhouse on the toddler playground. Water was also observed in a lid lying on the storage unit 2. The diapering pad in class D. had a small tear in the covering. Plan of Correction: Staff will monitor areas daily to ensure equipment of the center is maintained in clean and operable condition.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-A Description: Based on direct observations, the Center failed to ensure all children washed their hands after eating afternoon snack. Evidence: Several children were observed leaving the table and resumed play without washing their hands after snack in class A. Plan of Correction: Hand washing procedures will be reviewed with the responsible staff.
