An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted from 2:00pm-4:00pm. At the time of entrance, 33 children were in care with 2 staff members present. Children were observed during check in, snack time, and free play. A selection of staff and children records, medications, first aid kit, emergency plan, evacuation drill log and other documents were reviewed. Both Staff on site are certified in CPR, first aid and have MAT training. Staff files were reviewed on an earlier date. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the violation notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-N Description: Based on review, when an authorization for medication expires, medication that expired was not returned to the parent within 14 days or disposed of by the center by either dissolving the medication down the sink or flushing it down the toilet. Evidence: 1. Child C had a medication at the center located in the locked medication box that had an expiration date of 10/2017. Plan of Correction: I will give the medication back to the parent tonight.
