An unannounced renewal study was conducted from 9:45 am - 12:45 pm. There were 84 children in care being supervised by 15 staff members. The children were observed participating in structured center activities, gross motor play, preparing for lunch. Lunch is provided from home. Ten children's records were reviewed and in compliance. Eight staff records were reviewed and in compliance. Ten medications were reviewed. There are currently three staff members on site who are MAT (Medication Administration Training) certified. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-B Description: Based on observation of the younger infant room and older infant room it was determined that not all procedures for diapering were followed. Evidence: Cloth diapers were not disposed of in an individual foot operated trash system. Plan of Correction: Administration will purchase individual foot operated trash cans for each child who uses cloth diapers.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-A Description: Based on observation of ten medications it was determined that not all medication accompanied a parental authorization. Evidence: The Long Term Medication form on file for Child A did not have a parent signature. Plan of Correction: The parent of Child A signed the authorization form during the inspection.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-N Description: Based on observation of ten medications it was determined that not all medications were not given back to parents within 14 days of authorization expiration. Evidence: The medication authorization on file for Child B expired 11/17/17. The medication was still on site. Plan of Correction: Administration will request the parent of child B to complete a new authorization form or will remove the medication from the facility.
