Comments:
The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced monitoring inspection, at which play groups, activities, story time, group time, pre-lunch activities, lunch time, post lunch activities, personal hygiene, and rest time were observed. Children were observed; and staff and children files and other documentation were reviewed. Seventy-four (74) children were found to be in care, aged 4 months- 5 years, with 13 staff, kitchen staff, and office staff. Previous violations were reviewed, and had been corrected. Please contact me if you need further assistance. Thank you for your cooperation. This inspection began at 9:15am and concluded at 1:20pm.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-A
Description: Based on review of medications the facility failed to maintain compliance with this standard as required relating to expired medication. Evidence: The epi-pen for child C had expired as of 12/2017 and was still in the active medication lock box for emergency administration at the time of this inspection.

Plan of Correction: The parent will be notified as to the need for the epi-pen to be replaced. Once it is received it will be maintained in the medication lock box and verified for expiration. Administration will put together a medication sheet that will list the medications and their expiration dates for permission and usage to maintain future compliance.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D
Description: Based on review of emergency documentation the facility failed to maintain compliance with this standard as required relating to shelter-in-place drills. Evidence: The facility had only 1 of the required 2 shelter-in-place drills documented as completed for 2017.

Plan of Correction: Administration will ensure the emergency drill log is filled out right after each conducted drill so that compliance will be documented as required.
