22VAC40-191 Background Checks (22VAC40-191)
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted with the provider and assistant beginning at 3:45 PM and ending at 5:25 PM. There were sixty-five school age children were in care during the inspection. The children were observed playing board games, coloring, doing homework, and reading. Children were observed eating snack which consisted of granola, yogurt, and water. Bathroom and hand washing procedures were observed. Ten children?s records and determined to be in compliance. three staff members were reviewed. Seven medications were reviewed and in compliance. The first aid kit, flashlight, and weather-band radio were observed and in compliance. The most recent emergency escape drill was documented as 02/05/18. The most recent shelter in place drill was documented as 11/21/17. The most recent lock down drill was documented as 1/22/18. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-260-A Description: Based on a review of documentation, the center did not have an annual fire inspection as required. Evidence: The most recent fire inspection was documented as November 29, 2016. Plan of Correction: The center confirmed with school personnel that an annual fire inspection was not conducted. The center staff will follow up with school staff to obtain documentation of the fire inspection once it is completed.
Standard #: 22VAC40-191-60-C-2 Description: Based on a review of five staff records it was determined that not all staff records had central registry findings within 30 days of employment. Evidence: The record for staff A with a hire date of October 17, 2017 did not have a central registry finding. Plan of Correction: The center stated that the central registry check was completed but the documentation was not available with the findings during the inspection. The center will obtain a copy of the central registry findings and place it in the staff record.
