Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted from 9:35am-1:00pm. At the time of entrance, 136 children were in care with 29 staff members present. Children were observed during snack time, infant care, fitness time, dancing, singing, reading books, engaged in group activities and outdoor play time. A selection of staff and children records, medications and other documents were reviewed. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the violation notice. Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A
Description: Based on observation, areas and equipment of the center were not maintained in a safe and operable condition. Evidence: 1. In classroom 2, a blue and yellow soft cushion climber the children play on was frayed and coming apart in two corners.

Plan of Correction: It will be thrown away immediately.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B
Description: Based on observation, hazardous substances such as cleaning materials, insecticides, and pesticides were not kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Evidence: 1. In classroom 6, a lysol cleaning product and goo gone spray gel were inside a higher unlocked cabinet in the bathroom. 2. In classroom 2, a bottle of bleach water was hanging near the changing table. The teachers were not diapering at the time.

Plan of Correction: The teachers moved the cleaning products to a locked closet or cabinet immediately.
