Discussed the recent communication regarding fingerprint based background checks for child day programs. Anyone who has lived in another state in the past five years is required to request a check of the child abuse and neglect registry for each state they have lived in the past five years.
The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced monitoring inspection Thursday, February 22, 2018 from 1:35pm to 4:20pm. The infants were observed resting in their cribs. The other children were observed resting on cots. All classrooms and playgrounds were inspected today, as well as the facilities buses. Six children?s records and seven employee records were reviewed during this inspection. The center administers medication and it was reviewed. The center's first aid kit and emergency supplies were inspected. Last Evacuation Drill: 2/9/2018 Last Shelter In Place: 9/5/2017 Last Fire Inspection: 10/26/2017 Last Health Inspection: 9/14/2017 Total enrollment today: 72 Today, the following child to staff ratios were observed: Infant and toddlers ?4:2 Twos and Threes- 20:2 (restime ratio) Fours- 44:3 Kindergarten and 1st grade -18:1 School Age-41:3 The violations from the previous inspections were checked for corrections. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-440-E Description: Based on observation on 02/22/2018, the center did not ensure that there shall be at least 12 inches of space between occupied cots and rest mats. EVIDENCE: 1. In the 2 and 3 year old nap room there were not 12 inches of space between all occupied cots. 2. In the 4 year old nap room there were not 12 inches of space between all occupied cots. Plan of Correction: Will make sure to talk to teachers about spreading cots out and having the 12 inches between cots.
