Thank you for your assistance during this unannounced renewal inspection. This on-site visit was conducted on March 5, 2018 from 10:50 a.m. through 3:30 p.m. Upon arrival, there were fifty children in the care of twelve staff. Five children's records were reviewed. Fifteen staff records and four Board officer records were reviewed and updated. No medication is being administered at this time Areas observed were: music, story time, free choice activities, hand washing/bathroom and diapering procedures, lunch, nap and snack. Interactions with the staff and children were observed as positive and the children seem comfortable with the daily routine and schedule. This center is well equipped with a variety of age/stage materials for the children in care. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-G Description: Based on observation, the center failed to have a spray bottle container labeled indicating its contents. Evidence: 1. The spray bottle in the infant room contained bleach water. 2. The spray bottle was not labeled with its contents. 3. Staff confirmed the spray bottle was not labeled. Plan of Correction: Staff immediately labeled the spray bottle as bleach water.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-450-D Description: Based on observation, the center failed to have two pillows in the two -year old class with a coverings. Evidence: 1. The two-year old classroom was observed during nap time. 2. Two children were using pillows without coverings. 3. Staff confirmed the pillows did not have coverings. Plan of Correction: Staff immediately removed the pillows. If pillows for children that are two-years of age and older are used a covering will be used.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-B Description: Based on observation, center staff failed to clean the diaper surface with soap before sanitizing after a diaper change. Evidence: 1. One child was observed being diapered. 2. After the diaper change, Staff # 1 did not use soap and water first to clean the diapering surface. 3. Staff #1 used a spray bottle with bleach water. 4. Staff #1 confirmed she did not clean the diapering surface with soap before using bleach water to sanitize. Plan of Correction: A spray bottle was immediately labeled and mixed with soap water. Diapering procedures will be reviewed with all staff.
