Discussion was had with regards to an incident that occurred between two staff persons on Friday, March 9, 2018.
The following unannounced complaint inspection took place on 03/14/2018, between the hours of 10:30 am through 12:30 pm, on site at the child day center home located in Springfield, Virginia. Based on all available evidence, the following is the finding for the area of the standard that was in review: #400.A Reported / Valid #60.A Not Reported Found If you should have any future questions with regards to these findings, please call. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-60-A Complaint related: No Description: Based on a follow-up review, 2 children's files indicated that not all of the required information was contained within each child's record. Evidence - 1. On the date of inspection (03/14/2018), the following children were missing emergency contact information: Child #1, and Child #2. 2. Child #1 had no emergency contact information listed (0 of 2), and Child #2 was missing an addresses for 1 of 2 of the emergency contacts listed. 3. This same standard was previously cited during an inspection that originally took place on January 15, 2018. Plan of Correction: Center Admin shall be working late this week to coordinate and obtain from parents all applicable missing information within their child's record.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-400-A Complaint related: Yes Description: Based on interview, the interaction between one staff and another did not promote the child's emotional and social well-being when providing needed help, comfort, and support. Evidence - 1. On the date of inspection, 03/14/2018, it was determined that on Friday, March 9, 2018, between 12:15 pm and 12:30 pm, Staff #1 and Staff #2 were observed yelling at one another in the Pre-K room. Staff #1 was in the doorway of the classroom, while Staff #2 was inside the room. 2. At that time of this incident there were approximately 26 Pre-K children, in the room, getting ready to go down for their afternoon nap. 3. This same interaction then continued near the staff office area of the center between Staff #1 and Staff #2. 4. This incident was witnessed by Staff #3, Staff #4, and Staff #5. Plan of Correction: Such interaction between staff shall be refrained from happing again. Such interaction, in needed, shall be conducted in a professional manner and away from where children are being provided care.
