An unannounced monitoring visit was conducted today from 11:25am to 2:00pm. 55 children were directly supervised by 8 staff members. Ratios were in compliance. The physical space, attendance, the Emergency Preparedness Plan, 6 children's records, 6 staff records, evacuation drills, first aid supplies and injury reports were reviewed. No medications were on site. The playground was inspected and new mulch was recently delivered. The facility was painted and carpeting throughout was replaced, both within the past month. Previous violations were reviewed and all were brought into compliance. Lunches are brought from home. Containers were labeled correctly and in compliance. Required documents were posted. The space was clean and well organized. An abundance of developmentally appropriate materials were available. Children were observed working in small groups, writing, working on art projects, engaged in the dramatic play area and interacting with staff members. Interactions were positive. No violations were cited today. For questions regarding this inspection, please contact stephanie.salvatori@dss.virginia.gov.
