A Subsidy Health and Safety inspection was conducted from 2:40 PM to 6:10 PM to review supplemental health and safety requirements. I viewed operational responsibilities, record keeping, reports, caregiver training, hazardous substances, behavioral guidance, emergency planning and drill records, food service, five records for children, and five staff records. A licensing inspection was also conducted this date; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. A violation was found during the supplemental subsidy health and safety inspection and is identified on the violation notice. Let me know if you have any questions. 540/430-9259
Standard #: VENDSUB-000-012-E Description: Based on a review of five records for staff, and an interview with administrative staff, staff member 1 and 4 did not obtain certification in first aid and CPR within thirty days after beginning employment. Evidence: Staff member 1 began work on January 15, 2018. Staff member 1 wrote on the application that she completed certification on January 2, 2016. During the inspection, she showed a copy of the certificate which indicated the certification on January 2, 2016 was for two years. Staff member 4 began work on February 9, 2018 and the only certificate in the file was for CPR with the effective dates of January 2016 to January 2018. Plan of Correction: An administrative staff person will work with the two new staff to find enrollment in a first aid and CPR course for completion. Copies of the certificates will be placed in the staff files. The administrative staff involved in hiring new staff will make sure new staff understand the requirement for completing a first aid and CPR course no later than thirty days from beginning work.
