Thank you for your time and assistance with the unannounced monitoring inspection conducted today, April 26, 2018. The on-site inspection was from 8:55a.m. to 11:30a.m. On this date, there were 16 children present and in the care of two staff members. There were a total of 37 children enrolled in the two morning classes of the preschool program. There were five children's records reviewed and four staff records reviewed. There were two staff members interviewed, as well as three children. There were no medications being administered on this date which is the policy of the center. Snack was provided by the center and consisted of cheese crackers and apple juice. The exception to compliance was noted on the violation notice and the risk rating was noted on the supplemental page. An exit interview was conducted on this date. The children enjoyed reading the book, Little Cloud and making cloud art. Some items observed and reviewed included: required posted information, monthly snack menu, injury reports, warm water temperature, first-aid kit and emergency supplies, daily schedule, documentation of evacuation and shelter-in-place drills, arrival procedures, choice time, opening time, singing and fingerplays, hand washing and bathroom procedures, morning snack, outdoor time, circle time, story time, and dismissal procedures. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-320-B Description: Based on a measurement taken and confirmation with staff, the center's warm water exceeded 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Evidence: 1. The running warm water in a sink in one bathroom measured to be 125.9 degrees Fahrenheit. 2. Staff Member A confirmed the reading on the thermometer. Plan of Correction: Staff Member A will speak with the administration of the church today and will ensure that the hot water heater is working properly and turned down, and if it is not working properly, she will ensure that it is fixed or replaced so that that the warm water temperature does not exceed 120 degrees.
