Please make sure all classrooms have an up-to-date allergy lists. Infants are to receive tummy time upon enrollment. You may need to give it in short increments throughout the day to total at least 30 minutes each day, for those infants who cannot roll over on their own. Keep a close eye on the mulch to ensure that if it becomes compact or less than 6 inches you are immediately addressing it to ensure it remains in compliance with the standards. Regularly raking the mulch in the fall zones helps with maintaining compliance.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today with the director, who was present with 47 children and 10 staff. Children were finishing up their afternoon nap and some where tranisitioning to snack time, which consisted of animal crackers and apple juice. Seven children and staff files were reviewed today. Four children had medications on site. Arrival time: 1:35 pm Departure time: 4:20 pm
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation, it was determined that hazardous substances were not kept locked. Evidence: The Licensing Inspector observed a can of Lysol and Febreze unlocked in a cabinet in the toddler classroom. Plan of Correction: Locked during the inspection. We will retrain staff on the importance of keeping hazardous substances locked.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-430-C Description: Based on an inspection of the playground, it was determined that screws were protruding on the play equipment more than 2 threads. Evidence: The Licensing Inspector observed protruding screws measuring 4 to 8 threads at the top of the hardware on the swings. Plan of Correction: We will cut the screws to make sure they don't protrude more than 2 threads.
Standard #: 22VAC40-191-60-C-2 Description: Based on a review of seven staff files and an interview with the director, it was determined that one staff did not have a central registry finding on file within 30 days of employment. Evidence: Staff A was hired on 3/12/18 and does not have a central registry finding on file. Plan of Correction: We will immediately send off for the central registry finding. This staff will not return to the center until we have received a satisfactory central registry finding on file.
