Technical Assistance:

Technical assistance was provided regarding background check requirements for 14 year olds and 18 year olds.

Comments:

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia. A renewal inspection was initiated on 5/08/20 and concluded on 5/12/20. The Director of Corporate Social Services was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 0 children in care, and 35 approved provider homes. The agency reports 4 new staff since the last inspection. The inspector emailed the Director of Corporate Social Services a list of items required to complete the inspection. The inspector reviewed 4 provider home records, and 4 staff records submitted by the agency to ensure documentation was complete. Also reviewed were the background checks for 8 adoptive home files, approved since date of last inspection. Background checks for 2 corporate officers and 2 agents empowered to act on behalf of the corporation were reviewed in compliance with regulations regarding license renewals. An exit interview was conducted on 5/12/2020 with the COO, the Director of Corporate Social Services, and the Assistant Director of Social Services. The information gathered during the inspection determined no violations with applicable standards or law. No violations were issued.
